Governor Soludo Reaches Out to Pharmacists for Collaboration on Counterfeit Drugs

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has called for collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria to tackle the circulation of fake drugs.

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has reached out to the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) in a bid to tackle the rampant circulation of counterfeit drugs within the state. According to multiple reports, Soludo made the call while declaring open the 99th Annual National Conference of the PSN, which was tagged ‘Ijele 2026’.

The Governor, who highlighted the importance of improved healthcare delivery and positioning Anambra as a major pharmaceutical hub, stated that the collaboration with the PSN would be crucial in achieving these goals. It is believed that this partnership could potentially help in the identification, seizure, and elimination of counterfeit drugs in the state, thereby enhancing the quality and safety of healthcare services offered to its citizens.

This development comes as the PSN is set to embark on a nationwide campaign against the distribution and use of fake drugs, a move which is expected to benefit various states across Nigeria, with Anambra being a significant recipient of the campaign’s impact.

While the Governor has not specified a timeline for this collaboration, the PSN has shown its commitment to working with the Anambra State Government to achieve the common goal of ridding the state of counterfeit drugs.
