Nigeria Advocates for Global Anti-Corruption Efforts at IACA Assembly in Vienna
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has led Nigeria's call for stronger global anti-corruption cooperation at the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) Assembly in Vienna.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has taken the lead in advocating for stronger global anti-corruption efforts at the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) Assembly in Vienna, Austria. According to a report by PRNigeria News, the ICPC’s call came during the ongoing 12th IACA Annual Assembly, where delegates from various countries are discussing ways to combat corruption on a global scale. The ICPC’s stance is in line with Nigeria’s commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in governance, a pledge made by President Muhammadu Buhari in his inaugural speech in 2015. The call for stronger global cooperation against corruption is particularly important given the pervasive nature of corruption and its negative impact on economic development and the rule of law. The ICPC’s advocacy at the IACA Assembly is a testament to Nigeria’s commitment to fighting corruption both domestically and internationally. The ICPC has been at the forefront of the fight against corruption in Nigeria, with various initiatives aimed at promoting integrity, transparency, and accountability. The agency’s efforts have received international recognition, with the ICPC being awarded the United Nations Public Service Award in 2017.
