NDLEA Arraigns Six Over Alleged Methamphetamine Factory in Oyo
The NDLEA has arraigned two Mexican nationals and four Nigerians in a Federal High Court in Ibadan over an alleged attempt to establish a methamphetamine manufacturing operation in Oyo State.

Two Mexican nationals and four Nigerians have found themselves in legal trouble following their arrest in connection with an illegal drug laboratory uncovered in a wooded area of Tapa, Oyo State. The six defendants, who appeared before Justice Nkeonye Evelyn Maha following their arrest, are alleged to have been attempting to establish a methamphetamine manufacturing operation in the state.
According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the laboratory was discovered during a routine patrol of the area. The agency’s Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd.), stated that the laboratory was one of the most dangerous and sophisticated drug labs ever discovered in Nigeria.
‘This is a significant find. Methamphetamine is a highly addictive drug that is destroying lives and communities across the country. We will not rest until we have dismantled this operation and brought those responsible to justice,’ Marwa said.
The six defendants were arraigned on Friday, November 6, 2026, and pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them. They were remanded in custody until their next court appearance.
The arrest and arraignment of the six defendants is the latest in a series of raids and arrests by the NDLEA as part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse in Nigeria. According to the agency, methamphetamine is becoming increasingly popular among drug users in the country, and efforts are being made to curb its production and distribution.
