PDP Names Kayode Ogunbiyi as Acting Lagos Chairman
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Kayode Ogunbiyi as the acting chairman of its Lagos State chapter following the illness of the incumbent chairman, Muka Popoola.

In a move aimed at maintaining the party’s leadership in Lagos State, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has authorised Kayode Ogunbiyi, the Lagos State Deputy Chairman, to act as the party’s state chairman. This decision was taken following the illness of the incumbent chairman, Muka Popoola (Punch Newspapers). The appointment comes at a crucial time for the PDP in Lagos, as the party prepares for local elections in the near future. According to reports, Ogunbiyi has been a key figure in the PDP’s Lagos chapter, and his appointment is seen as a sign of continuity and stability. However, it remains unclear how long Ogunbiyi will serve as acting chairman or if he will be nominated for a full term in the future. The PDP has not yet made any official announcement regarding these details. The PDP’s leadership changes come amidst a larger political landscape in Nigeria, with the 2027 general elections just around the corner. The party will be aiming to regain its lost ground in Lagos State and improve its performance nationwide.
