The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has mocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) over its Northwest zonal flag-off rally in Kaduna, alleging poor attendance and the use of rented crowds. In a statement, the ADC’s Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, criticised the rally at Kaduna Township Stadium, which was billed as a large-scale event but reportedly appeared sparsely attended. According to Vanguard News, the ADC claimed that the event was a ‘shameful spectacle.’
The allegations come amid a high-stakes presidential campaign season, with both the APC and the ADC vying for voters’ support ahead of the 2027 elections. The APC, which currently holds power at the federal level, is seeking to maintain its grip on power, while the ADC is campaigning as an alternative.
The APC has not commented on the allegations, and it is unclear whether the party will respond to the ADC’s criticism. However, the controversy surrounding the Kaduna rally is likely to fuel political tension ahead of the elections. In a separate development, the Kaduna State Government has dismissed as fraudulent a letter claiming that Governor Uba Sani approved and released N2.3 trillion for the flag-off of the APC’s presidential campaign in Kaduna.
