ADC Challenges Tinubu, APC on Unfulfilled Power Supply Pledge
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken issue with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu over unfulfilled promises on electricity supply.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu over the failure to fulfill a campaign promise on electricity supply. According to Punch Newspapers, the opposition party, in a statement, recalled that President Tinubu had promised during his 2023 campaign to address Nigeria’s persistent power outages and end estimated billing. However, three and a half years into his administration, Nigerians are still grappling with unreliable electricity, rising tariffs, and the cost of alternative power sources. The ADC questioned the APC’s political explanations about reforms and ongoing projects, arguing that they do little to alleviate the suffering of ordinary Nigerians. This latest challenge comes after a similar criticism from Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2023 elections. According to Vanguard News, Atiku argued that despite the administration’s explanations about ongoing projects and reforms, Nigerians are still experiencing power outages and high costs. It is unclear when or if the APC will respond to these criticisms.
