This victory ensures Nigeria’s participation in the 2027 AFCON tournament, which is scheduled to take place from June 10 to July 9 across six cities in Cameroon.
Meanwhile, Senegal, led by former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira, drew their first match of the qualifiers against Guinea. The game ended goalless in Conakry, with both teams creating several opportunities but failing to convert. This result leaves Senegal second in Group I, behind leaders Malawi, who defeated Guinea 2-1 in a dramatic come-from-behind victory.
