In a move that has raised concerns ahead of the highly anticipated campaign flag-off in Kaduna, the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC) has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of plotting to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to discredit the party’s presidential campaign, according to Vanguard News.
The allegation comes as support groups backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu staged a solidarity march in Kaduna ahead of the flag-off, as reported by Tribune Online.
The APC-PCC claims that Atiku and the ADC aim to manipulate public opinion by creating deepfake videos and counterfeit documents to tarnish the reputation of the APC’s campaign in Kaduna. The Council has not provided evidence to support these allegations.
The use of AI in political campaigns has become a contentious issue globally, with concerns about the potential for misinformation and manipulation of public opinion. The APC-PCC’s accusations against Atiku have yet to be confirmed, and Atiku’s campaign has not responded to the allegations.
