The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Benue State Wing, has endorsed Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia for a second term, citing his administration’s interventions in the education sector. The endorsement comes on World Teachers’ Day 2026.
According to the Tribune Online, the teachers praised Alia for his investments in education, including the building of new schools and provision of teaching aids.
The report did not specify if Alia is the only candidate running for governor in Benue State. However, his endorsement by the teachers’ union could significantly boost his chances in the election.
Meanwhile, the Voice of Nigeria reported that the Federal Government pledged more investment in teachers on World Teachers’ Day 2026, emphasizing the crucial role teachers play in national development.
