In a heart-wrenching appeal, parents from the Margi community in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State have reached out to President Bola Tinubu, imploring him to intensify efforts to secure the release of their children and a teacher who have been held captive for months. According to reports from THISDAYLIVE, the incident occurred in July 2026, when Boko Haram terrorists stormed a school in the community, abducting 78 children and a teacher. The abduction has left the community in a state of despair, with parents and community leaders appealing to the President for help. The Margi community has a long history of being targeted by Boko Haram, with numerous attacks on schools and villages over the years. This latest incident has once again brought to light the vulnerability of these communities and the urgent need for increased security and intervention from the federal government. While the Presidency has not yet responded to the plea, it is hoped that President Tinubu will take swift action to ensure the safe return of these children and teacher. The community’s plight underscores the ongoing struggle against Boko Haram and the need for sustained efforts to protect vulnerable communities from attacks and abductions.
