CBN Warns of Economic Risks from Middle East Tensions and Election Spending

According to a report by Premium Times Nigeria, the CBN released a statement expressing concerns over the impact of the ongoing tensions in the Middle East on Nigeria’s economy. The Bank noted that while the outlook for the domestic economy remains positive, these external risks could undermine the moderation in inflation that has been observed recently.

Furthermore, the CBN warned about the potential economic implications of increased spending during the upcoming elections. The Bank urged various stakeholders to exercise caution and ensure prudent management of resources to avoid exacerbating existing economic pressures.

This warning comes as the Central Bank continues its efforts to manage inflation and maintain economic stability in Nigeria. As elections approach, concerns about political uncertainty and potential economic instability are heightened among both local and international investors.
