CJN Swears in 68 New Senior Advocates of Nigeria

On Monday, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, administered the oath of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) to 68 legal practitioners during the 2026/2027 Legal Year ceremony. According to Punch Newspapers, this significant event took place at the Supreme Court, with the new SANs joining the ranks of the country’s top legal professionals.

The swearing-in ceremony was also announced by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) via a news flash, which shared images and videos from the event.

This development is expected to bolster the legal sector in Nigeria as these new SANs bring their expertise and experience to the table. The swearing-in of the new SANs comes after a rigorous selection process, demonstrating the high standards required to be admitted to this prestigious professional group.

The exact details of the selection process and the identities of the newly sworn-in SANs have not been disclosed at this time. The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) usually oversees the selection process for SANs, but no official statement regarding the process or the new SANs has been released by the NBA as of this report.
