This move is crucial as misinformation and disinformation have been known to impact elections in various ways.
FIAP has announced plans to train journalists across the continent on digital verification techniques. Meanwhile, FactCheckAfrica, a fact-checking organisation, will continue its efforts to debunk false claims and myths circulating online.
WikiMedia Nigeria, on the other hand, is focusing on improving access to reliable information by increasing the presence of Wikipedia in local languages. This step is expected to make it easier for people to find accurate information in their native tongues.
