Discos Bill N250.79bn, Collect N205.53bn in July – New Data Revealed

According to the report by Premium Times Nigeria, Discos collected N205.53 billion from their billings, representing a 75.10 per cent billing efficiency.

The data was revealed by the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), which oversees the operations of the electricity distribution companies (DisCos) in Nigeria.

‘This latest data shows that despite some improvements, DisCos are still struggling to meet their billing targets’, said a spokesperson for NERC. ‘The industry needs urgent reforms to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.’

The report highlights the ongoing challenges faced by Nigerian electricity customers, who continue to experience frequent power outages and high energy costs.

It is unclear why the billing efficiency has dropped slightly from the previous month, but experts suggest that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic may be impacting the operations of DisCos. The NERC has not said when the facility began operating or whether any new measures have been put in place to address these issues.
