Police Identify Officer Who Sparked Controversy Over Igbo Presidential Aspiration

In a recent development, the Lagos State Police Command has taken a step towards addressing the controversial statements made by one of its officers regarding the presidential aspirations of Igbo individuals. According to Daily Post Nigeria, the officer in question is identified as Osumah Frank.

The viral video that ignited this controversy featured Frank expressing his opinion that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, or any other Igbo man could never be president of Nigeria. This statement sparked widespread outrage and debate across the nation.

SP Abimbola Adebisi, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed Frank’s identity in a statement. The exact implications of his arrest are yet to be disclosed by the police authorities.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting diversity and promoting unity among Nigerians, especially during the heated political climate preceding general elections. As the nation moves towards its 2027 polls, such divisive comments could potentially escalate tensions.
