In a recent development, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been urged to execute a long-standing arrest warrant against Mrs Seinye Lulu-Briggs. According to Daily Post Nigeria, the warrant was issued on May 16, 2022 by Justice Taiwo O. Taiwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in a suit numbered FHC/ABJ/CS/653/2022. The court had directed the EFCC and the Nigeria Police Force to apprehend Mrs Lulu-Briggs over allegations of financial impropriety.
This development comes amidst growing concerns about corruption in high places in Nigeria, and the need for institutions like the EFCC to assert their independence and uphold the rule of law. The warrant’s execution could mark a significant step towards ensuring justice is served and holding individuals accountable for their actions.
However, it is worth noting that the EFCC has not yet commented on when or if they will execute the arrest warrant. The Nigerian judicial system often moves at a slow pace, and this case may be no exception.
