Gary Neville, a former Manchester United player and current pundit, has called for the sacking of current manager Michael Carrick, following the team’s recent poor performances in the English Premier League (EPL). According to Nigeria Abuja on Google News, Neville made this call during a radio interview, citing the team’s inconsistent performances as the reason for his stance.
However, Carrick himself has not responded to Neville’s comments. In an interview with Punch Newspapers, Carrick confirmed that Bruno Fernandes will remain the club’s captain despite recent tensions over team performance.
‘I have no intention of leaving my role as manager of Manchester United,’ Carrick said. ‘I am here to do my job and I will continue to do so until the club decides otherwise.’
Vanguard News also reported that Carrick was not surprised by the calls for his dismissal, stating that he ‘understands the pressures of the job’ and is ‘committed to turning things around’ for the team.
Neville’s call for Carrick’s sacking comes amidst increasing speculation about the future of the Manchester United manager. The team has struggled in recent matches, with fans and pundits alike calling for changes to be made to the team’s leadership.
