The Lagos State Government has refuted claims that it has introduced a new tax law on private boreholes, according to a report by The Guardian Nigeria News. The denial comes amidst a wave of concerns and speculations from residents and property owners in the state. The Guardian reported that the Lagos State Water Corporation (LSWC) issued a notice to residents and property owners regarding the new tax law, which has sparked confusion and controversy. However, the Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akinkunmi Ogundeji, was quoted by The Guardian as saying that no such law has been introduced. According to Ogundeji, the state government is only seeking to regulate the use of private boreholes to ensure safety and quality of water. The report also highlights the election of new executive members for the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Lagos chapter. The new executives are expected to lead the NSE in its efforts to promote capital market development and investor education in Lagos state.
