Lagos State Warns Motorists Against Reckless Driving During Ember Months

The Lagos State Safety Commission has issued a warning to motorists and commercial drivers, urging them to be cautious on the roads during the ember months to prevent accidents.

According to Punch Newspapers, the commission has expressed concerns about the increased risk of road crashes during the ember months, which typically occur from October to December.

Motorists and commercial drivers are being advised to drive defensively, avoid overtaking on blind spots, and comply with traffic regulations to ensure their safety and that of other road users.

The Lagos State Government has not yet announced any specific measures to address the issue, but the Safety Commission’s warning serves as a reminder to all motorists to exercise caution during this period.

In 2025, there were over 3,000 road accidents in Lagos State, resulting in over 1,500 fatalities. With the festive season approaching, the risk of road accidents is likely to increase, making it essential for motorists to take extra precautions.
