Nigeria’s NDLEA Seizes Record-Breaking 8.7 Tonnes of Tramadol Worth N7 Billion at Lagos Port

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a staggering seizure of 8.7 tonnes of Tramadol, worth an estimated N7 billion, at the Lagos Port. According to Sahara Reporters, this is the largest single seizure of the opioid painkiller in Nigeria’s history. However, Premium Times Nigeria reports that the NDLEA has not yet confirmed the exact value of the seized Tramadol. This seizure comes as part of the agency’s continued efforts to combat the illegal drug trade in Nigeria. The NDLEA has been increasingly successful in intercepting large shipments of illicit drugs, especially at the country’s major ports. This latest seizure highlights the ongoing struggle against the trafficking of dangerous substances into Nigeria, a problem that poses significant risks to public health and national security. The NDLEA’s success in this operation demonstrates the agency’s commitment to protecting Nigerians from the harm caused by the illicit drug trade.
