As Nigeria celebrates its 66th Independence Day on October 1st, Nigerian politician and businessman Shina Peller has taken to social media to call for an end to ‘sweet talk’ and empty promises in the country’s political landscape. In a post shared on Instagram, Peller launched the Liftteller Giveaway, encouraging Nigerians to share their personal stories of overcoming adversity using the #LifttellerChallenge hashtag. The contest will award five winners with a cash prize of ₦500,000 each.
‘Enough is enough! Let’s celebrate our independence by acknowledging and rewarding those who have shown courage in their struggles,’ Peller wrote in the caption of his post. ‘Share your #LifttellerChallenge story for a chance to win ₦500,000.’
The announcement has garnered praise from many Nigerians on social media, with some hailing Peller’s initiative as a much-needed step towards empowering the nation’s citizens. However, others have expressed skepticism about the politician’s intentions, calling for transparency and accountability in the execution of the giveaway.
According to the Independent Newspaper Nigeria, this is not Peller’s first philanthropic initiative. In 2019, he launched the Shina Peller Foundation, which focuses on education, healthcare, and empowerment projects across Nigeria.
