According to a report by Premium Times Nigeria, the witness, Shuaibu Mohammed, stated that the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under Dasuki received N2.1 billion from the CBN and N2.5 billion from the Accountant General of the Federation for the purchase of arms and ammunition. The funds were allegedly diverted, a charge Dasuki and his co-defendants, including a former Sokoto State governor, are facing.
Mohammed, who is a former deputy director of finance and accounts at the ONSA, made these revelations during his cross-examination by the defense counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN).
It’s worth noting that this trial is part of a series of investigations into the alleged misappropriation of funds meant for national security.
This development sheds light on the management and disbursement of funds meant for national security under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. Nigerian citizens deserve to know the truth about how their money was used, especially in matters concerning their safety.
