Police Nab Ex-Convict for POS Robberies in Anambra

Anambra State Police have arrested a 27-year-old ex-convict, Chidera Eleh, in connection with a string of motorcycle-assisted robberies targeting Point of Sale (POS) operators across the state, according to Punch Newspapers. The report does not specify when the suspect was apprehended or the number of POS operators affected. Eleh, who has a previous conviction, is said to be a member of a gang that has been terrorizing POS operators in the region. The police are yet to disclose further details about the arrest or whether any recoveries were made. This incident underscores the growing concern over the safety of POS operators in Nigeria, particularly in areas prone to crime. As electronic payments become more prevalent, the need for enhanced security measures and cooperation between law enforcement and the financial sector is increasingly evident.
