Tinubu Tells Nigerian Youth: 2027 Election is About You

President Bola Tinubu has said that the 2027 general election is all about Nigerian youth and not him.

In a rallying speech at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Saturday, President Bola Tinubu emphasized that the upcoming 2027 general election is significant for the Nigerian youth. According to the Daily Post Nigeria, Tinubu stated, ‘The 2027 election is about you, not me.’

Tinubu, who is currently serving his second term as president, highlighted that he has already made his own life, and it is now the younger generation’s time to shape the country’s future.

The president’s statement underscores a growing trend among politicians to engage with and appeal to the youth vote, which is increasingly becoming a key demographic in Nigerian politics. According to a recent poll by NOI Polls, 52% of Nigerian youth aged 18-35 believe that the country is heading in the wrong direction, with a desire for change and a voice in the political process.

As the 2027 elections approach, it remains to be seen how the various political parties will vie for the youth vote and what policies they will propose to address the concerns of the younger generation.
