A new dawn has broken in Nigeria’s energy sector with the introduction of a cashless, self-service petrol station in the heart of Abuja. The innovative development was unveiled by a local firm, marking a significant leap towards digitalization and customer convenience.
According to THISDAYLIVE, the new fuel station is equipped with technology that allows customers to purchase petrol without needing cash or interacting with any staff member. This move is expected to reduce queues at filling stations and minimize human contact during the ongoing pandemic.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has not yet commented on when the facility began operating, but this development could potentially revolutionize fuel distribution in the country if it proves successful.
This innovation comes at a time when the federal government is pushing for a cashless economy and digital transactions. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been championing initiatives to promote e-payments and reduce reliance on physical cash.
