FCT Police Arrest Woman Over Newborn’s Death

According to reports from Vanguard News and Tribune Online, the FCT Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old woman named Precious Yohanna over the death of her newborn baby in Jabi, Abuja. The exact circumstances surrounding the infant’s demise remain unclear, but it is alleged that Yohanna may have harboured animosity towards the child’s father.

As per Vanguard News, the child was found abandoned in a bush. The Tribune Online report adds that the baby was killed with a razor blade, although this claim has not been confirmed by any other sources.

The FCT Police Command has yet to release a statement detailing when or why Yohanna was arrested, or whether she has been charged with a crime. This story serves as a grim reminder of the challenges facing mothers and newborns in Nigeria, and underscores the importance of supporting maternal and child health initiatives.
