The All Progressives Congress (APC) has made significant decisions regarding its election campaign strategy for the 2027 presidential election in Osun State. According to Premium Times Nigeria, the party has appointed Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party to spearhead the campaign for its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. This appointment comes after Adeleke’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party earlier this year. The APC has also reportedly assigned roles to Chief Bisi Akande and Senator Iyiola Omisore, both prominent politicians in Osun State. However, the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola, has been excluded from the campaign team. This move, according to analysts, is a strategic decision aimed at appeasing the governor’s supporters while ensuring a strong campaign structure that can deliver a decisive victory for Tinubu in Osun. The decision to appoint Adeleke, who won a controversial governorship election in 2022, could be seen as a bold move by the APC to regain control of the state, which was lost to the PDP in 2018.
