Angry Algerian Fans Attack Coach, Vandalise Stadium After Rangers Defeat

In a shocking turn of events, angry MC Alger supporters allegedly attacked their assistant coach and vandalised the stadium in Abeokuta after a 2-0 loss to Enugu Rangers in a CAF match, according to Punch Newspapers. The details of the incident are still unclear, but it appears the fans’ frustration boiled over after the team’s defeat on Tuesday, October 19. It is not known if anyone was injured during the incident. This is not the first time Algerian football fans have been involved in violent incidents. In 2021, Algerian fans clashed with Moroccan fans during an AFCON match, leading to multiple arrests. The ongoing violence raises concerns about the safety of fans and players during football matches in Nigeria. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the local authorities have been contacted for comment.
