RMB Nigeria Crowned AIHN’s M&A Deal of the Year for US$583 Million Axxela Acquisition

RMB Nigeria has claimed the top spot in the Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria’s (AIHN) M&A Deal of the Year awards for 2025. This prestigious accolade recognises the investment bank’s role as exclusive financial advisor to Helios Investment Partners in the US$583 million acquisition of Axxela, a leading gas distribution company in Nigeria.

According to THISDAYLIVE, RMB Nigeria’s advisory role was instrumental in securing the deal, which was finalised in December 2025. The newspaper reports that the acquisition saw Helios Investment Partners acquire a majority stake in Axxela from its founding shareholders, making it one of the largest private equity transactions in Nigeria’s history.

Proshare, a leading digital financial marketplace in Nigeria, also reported on the award, highlighting the US$583 million transaction as the largest M&A deal in Nigeria in 2025.

The Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria (AIHN) is a professional body representing the issuing houses in Nigeria, and the M&A Deal of the Year award is an annual recognition for exceptional deal-making in the Nigerian capital market.
