The Federal Government of Nigeria has embarked on a bold 10-year mission to expand the nation’s capital market, with a target of reaching a staggering N750 trillion by 2036. According to a report by Vanguard News, the strategy includes listing selected state-owned enterprises, notably the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), on the Nigerian Exchange. Vanguard News has reported that the government aims to attract local and foreign investments through this move, thereby bolstering the economy. It remains to be seen how the listing will unfold and the potential impact on the market and the economy at large.
