The All Progressives Congress (APC) has hit back at former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, accusing him of politicising Nigeria’s Ebola response. In a statement issued by the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s spokesperson, Dele Alake, the party criticised Atiku for his comments on the Ebola emergency, accusing him of politicising a public health issue to ridicule President Bola Tinubu. The APC also defended Tinubu’s handling of the crisis, denying accusations that a ₦10 billion emergency fund approved in June 2026 remains untouched. According to Vanguard News, the APC insisted that the fund was being used appropriately, though they did not provide specific details. This development comes as the APC continues to face criticism over its response to the Ebola outbreak, with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) accusing the government of being slow to act and lacking a comprehensive strategy to combat the disease. Meanwhile, the Delta and Osun state APC campaign councils have been inaugurated, as reported by Punch Newspapers. The Delta state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has inaugurated the Delta APC campaign council to intensify grassroots mobilisation for the 2027 elections. In Osun, the inauguration of a 344-member campaign council for President Tinubu’s re-election took place, but Governor Ademola Adeleke’s rival, Adegboyega Oyetola, was absent. It remains unclear whether this absence was intentional or due to other commitments.
