Police Commence Training of 10,000 Officers Ahead of 2027 Elections

According to reports from Punch Newspapers and Vanguard News, the Nigeria Police Force has commenced training for 10,000 officers nationwide on election security management ahead of the 2027 general elections. The training program, which began on an unspecified date, aims to ensure a smooth and secure conduct of the elections. Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has urged officers to maintain neutrality, professionalism, and accountability during the training and in the discharge of their duties during the elections. This move comes amidst growing concerns about the security of elections in Nigeria, especially with the 2023 elections just around the corner. The training is expected to last for five days, with the exact schedule and locations yet to be disclosed.
