Mohammed Eniola Eletu, a graduate of the Department of Mass Communication at Lagos State University (LASU), stunned the academic community by emerging as the overall best graduating student of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies for the 2025/2026 academic session, boasting a remarkable Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.85 out of 5.00. Eletu’s exceptional achievement also shattered the faculty’s long-standing record, according to Tribune Online.
Eletu, in an exclusive interview with EventsNigeria.com, recounted how a setback at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) served as a catalyst for his academic success.
‘In 2022, I was admitted to the NDA, but I was unable to proceed due to unforeseen circumstances. This unexpected turn of events led me to reconsider my academic path, and I decided to transfer to LASU to study Mass Communication,’ Eletu explained.
Eletu’s dedication to his studies and his resilience in the face of adversity culminated in his being named LASU’s best graduating student, a title that reflects his unwavering commitment to academic excellence.
‘Being named the best graduating student of my faculty has been an incredibly humbling experience. It reinforces the belief that every setback is a setup for a comeback, and I am proud to have proven that,’ Eletu said.
Eletu’s inspiring story serves as a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of never giving up, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
