Paul Ibe, media aide to the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, has challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to explain the funding of seven brand-new Toyota Prado SUVs reportedly distributed to youth leaders for election mobilisation. Ibe’s comments came after APC’s National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, claimed he had presented the vehicles to the youth leaders, stating that they would be used to mobilize support for the APC during the upcoming elections.
According to Ibe, the Nigerian treasury should not be used as a campaign purse, and the APC needs to provide evidence that the vehicles were acquired through legitimate means.
This controversy comes at a time when the APC is facing scrutiny over its campaign finances and allegations of corruption. The APC has not yet responded to Ibe’s challenge, and it remains unclear how the vehicles were funded.
The distribution of these vehicles has sparked debate among Nigerians, with some questioning the fairness of using such resources to gain political support.
