Governor Warns Against Deification: ‘Election is Over’

A Nigerian governor has asked his supporters and political associates to stop referring to him as a deity, emphasizing that the election is over.

In a recent statement, Governor X has asked his supporters and political associates to stop referring to him as a deity, emphasizing that the election is over. According to Premium Times Nigeria, the governor stated, I think we have to put an end to all these appellations. Election is over, and from today, just address me as Mr Governor. I don’t want to hear all these appellations such as ‘Jinx Breaker’, ‘History Maker’ and all the rest… The governor further stated that he does not want anybody to equate him with God or give him an appellation that is an attribute of God. This warning comes after the governor’s landslide victory in the recent elections, which many have attributed to his perceived divine intervention. Some of his supporters have been seen carrying banners and chanting slogans that portray the governor as a deity. However, the governor has stressed the need for a clear distinction between his role as a political leader and any perceived divine status. The governor’s warning serves as a reminder that leaders are human and should not be deified. As Nigerians, it is essential to remember that our leaders are accountable to us and should be held responsible for their actions.
