The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted drugs worth N6.1 billion in the South-West region, according to a report by Tribune Online.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized a significant drug haul worth N6.1 billion in the South-West region, according to a report by Tribune Online. On Tuesday, the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A of the NCS made the announcement, revealing that the illicit drugs, weighing 400 grams, were discovered during routine checks. The specific nature and types of drugs seized were not detailed in the report. The interception is part of ongoing efforts by the NCS to curb the inflow of illicit substances into the country. In a similar incident last month, the NCS intercepted 204 kilograms of cocaine with a street value of over $100 million at the Apapa port in Lagos. The fight against drug trafficking is a key priority for the Nigerian government, as the country grapples with a growing drug problem, particularly among its youth.
