Rotimi Amaechi Urges Nigerians to Remain at Polling Stations Until Votes are Counted in 2027

Rotimi Amaechi, the vice presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has advised Nigerians to stay at their polling units until their votes are counted and results uploaded during the 2027 general election.

In an interview on News Central TV on Friday, Rotimi Amaechi, the vice presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), urged Nigerians not to leave their polling stations before their votes are counted and the results are uploaded during the 2027 general election. According to Daily Post Nigeria, Amaechi made this statement to ensure transparency and prevent voter intimidation.

The former Rivers state governor emphasized that voters must remain at their polling units until their votes are counted and results are uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) server. This move is aimed at preventing any possible manipulation or rigging of the election results.

Amaechi’s call to action comes as concerns about election integrity continue to grow among Nigerians. The 2023 general election saw numerous reports of vote-buying, intimidation, and other forms of electoral malpractice. As a result, the call for a more transparent and secure election process has become increasingly prominent.

It remains unclear how the Nigerian government and INEC will respond to Amaechi’s call for voters to remain at their polling stations until results are uploaded. The Nigerian government has not yet commented on the matter.
