A trio of Nigerian financial institutions – Afreximbank, the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN), and the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) – have committed a combined sum of $118 million to boost Nigeria’s creative industries. This development was revealed in various news sources, including The Guardian Nigeria News and Nigeria Startup News. The funding is intended to enhance the competitiveness of Nigerian creative businesses and stimulate economic growth in the sector.
According to The Guardian Nigeria News, this commitment comes as the Creative African Network Exhibition (CANEX) opens, an event aimed at showcasing and fostering partnerships between African creative businesses and international investors. While the exact distribution of the funds among the three institutions is yet to be specified, the move is expected to provide a significant boost to Nigeria’s burgeoning creative industries.
The Nigerian creative sector, encompassing music, film, fashion, and digital content, has been gaining international recognition in recent years.
