In a significant development, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that the country is moving from a period of economic reforms to prosperity. Speaking at the National Civil Society Organisations Summit 2026 in Abuja on Friday, Tinubu, who themed the event as ‘Nigeria First and National Development’, explained that this transition signifies a shift towards an era of sustainable growth and development for Nigeria.
The President made these remarks while unveiling fresh measures to deepen collaboration between government and civil society organisations (CSOs). According to Tribune Online, the summit was organised by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President and the Bureau of Public Service Reform.
‘This transition from reforms to prosperity is about ensuring that the efforts we have put into economic reforms yield sustainable results for our people’, Tinubu was quoted as saying. He further emphasized the importance of collaboration between government and CSOs in driving this transformation, stating that ‘the success of these initiatives will depend on the level of commitment and engagement from all stakeholders’.
While the specific details of these new measures have not been disclosed, Tinubu’s announcement comes at a crucial time as Nigeria grapples with economic challenges such as inflation, foreign exchange issues, and insecurity. The President’s emphasis on prosperity signals a shift towards addressing these issues head-on, with a focus on sustainable growth and development.
This move towards prosperity is not only significant for Nigeria’s domestic affairs but also for its international standing. As the country continues to engage with global partners in various sectors, demonstrating progress and commitment to economic stability will be key in securing investment and partnership opportunities.
