Makinde Criticizes Tinubu Administration Over Alleged Withheld NLNG Dividends

The Tinubu administration has faced criticism from Transparency International Nigeria and the Executive Director of the Centre for Social Justice, Eze Onyekpere, over allegations of withholding N250 billion in dividends from Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG). According to Daily Post Nigeria, the head of TI Nigeria, Auwal Rafsanjani, and Onyekpere made their criticisms in separate interviews. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State also doubled down on these claims, stating that the funds were needed to alleviate the hardship faced by Nigerians. However, the presidency has dismissed Makinde’s claims, stating that the funds have not been withdrawn. This controversy comes as the Tinubu administration grapples with managing the country’s economy amidst economic challenges.
