Nurses at Aro Neuropsychiatric Hospital Give Management a 21-Day Ultimatum

The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, has issued a 21-day ultimatum to the hospital’s management over inadequate staffing and deficiencies in the working environment, Tribune Online reports. According to the union, the lack of basic equipment such as thermometers, weighing scales, oxygen cylinders, and glucometers, as well as medication, is causing distress among the healthcare providers. The nurses are demanding urgent action to address these issues to ensure the wellbeing of both staff and patients. This development comes amidst growing concerns about the state of healthcare facilities in Nigeria, particularly those catering to mental health patients. The nurses’ ultimatum highlights the need for the government to prioritize investments in healthcare infrastructure and equipment to maintain the quality of care provided.
