Customs Seize ₦5.8 Million Worth of Unregistered Drugs in Sokoto, Handed Over to NAFDAC

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized unregistered pharmaceutical products valued at ₦5,804,062.06 in Sokoto, according to reports from Punch Newspapers and THISDAYLIVE. The drugs, suspected to be counterfeit, were handed over to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for further investigation. This latest seizure comes amidst growing concerns over the proliferation of counterfeit drugs in the country, with NAFDAC often at the forefront of the fight against this menace. According to Punch Newspapers, the seized drugs were intercepted at the Sokoto/Zamfara Area Command. The Customs Service has not yet released a statement on when the facility began operating or the number of such seizures made so far this year. This incident serves as a reminder to Nigerians to be vigilant when purchasing drugs and to always verify the authenticity of any medications before consumption.
