The Osun State Police have declared a former leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Moshood Lawal, also known as ‘MC Oluomo’, wanted over the murder of a close ally of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the state, Ademola Adeleke. According to Premium Times Nigeria, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode, confirmed the development, stating that the command is working to apprehend Lawal and another suspect believed to have masterminded the killing. The report did not disclose the identity of the victim, but Tribune Online, another source, named the victim as Alhaji Isiaka Adeagbo, an ally of Adeleke, who was reportedly murdered in Osogbo, the state capital, on October 18. The police identified another NURTW chieftain, Ojo Adeyemi, popularly known as Sibi, as one of the individuals being sought in connection with the murder. The circumstances surrounding the murder and the motive behind it are yet to be disclosed. The Osun gubernatorial election is scheduled to hold on July 16, 2027, and the killing of Adeleke’s ally has added another layer of tension to the political landscape of the state. The police’s move to apprehend the suspects is expected to shed light on the incident and provide justice for the victim’s family.
