Tech Giants and INEC Collaborate for 2027’s #AI4Elections Hackathon

In a groundbreaking move, some of the world’s leading tech companies – Rise Networks, INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission), Meta (Facebook’s parent company), Google, and Microsoft – have joined forces to launch the #AI4Elections Hackathon. This initiative, set to take place in 2027, aims to foster responsible AI innovation that safeguards electoral integrity and protects citizens’ rights. According to Dr Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, the founder of Rise Networks, the collaboration seeks to leverage technology to enhance Nigeria’s democratic process.

The partnership is significant given the increasing role of technology in elections worldwide. The #AI4Elections Hackathon is expected to attract developers, data scientists, and tech enthusiasts to create innovative solutions that address challenges in Nigeria’s electoral process. More details about the event, including its exact dates, will be announced in due course.

This collaboration is a testament to the commitment of these tech giants to Nigeria’s democracy and underscores their belief in the power of technology to drive positive change. As the 2027 elections approach, the focus on ensuring a free, fair, and transparent process is more crucial than ever.
